WM2200 Linux driver released

Initial Linux support for the WM2200, a low power mobile CODEC with enhanced Wolfson myZone™ Ambient Noise Cancellation (ANC), has just been released. Like all Wolfson audio drivers this can be obtained via our ASoC page. For more information on the WM5100 please see the main WM2200 product page.

Wolfson updates in 3.1

Linus released version 3.1 of the Linux kernel at Kernel Summit this morning. This kernel release contains a number of bugfixes and enhancements to existing Wolfson drivers introduces new drivers for WM8728 and WM8983. We have also contributed a new API, regmap, which provides a common infrastructure for interacting with the registers on devices connected to buses like I2C and SPI.

WM1811 support released

Linux support for the WM1811, a low power, high quality, highly flexible audio CODEC for smartphone applications with an ultra compact form factor, has just been released. Like all Wolfson audio drivers this can be obtained via our ASoC page.

WM5100 Linux driver released

Linux support for the WM5100, a low power, high quality, highly flexible audio CODEC for smartphone applications featuring ANC and echo cancellation, has just been released. Like all Wolfson audio drivers this can be obtained via our ASoC page. For more information on the WM5100 please see the main WM5100 product page.

WM8983 Linux support released

Linux support for the WM8983, a low power, high quality stereo CODEC designed for portable multimedia applications, has just been released. Like all Wolfson audio drivers this can be obtained via our ASoC page. For more information on the WM8983 please see the main WM8983 product page.

WM8918 Linux support released

Linux support for the WM8918, a low power stereo audio DAC with headphone driver and DMIC, has just been released. Like all Wolfson audio drivers this can be obtained via our ASoC page. For more information on the WM818 please see the main WM8918 product page.

Slides for ELC/Android Builder's Summit talk

Slides from the talk I presented at Android Builders's Summit and ELC earlier today on Linux audio for smartphones are now available here. Speaking at Android Builders Summit

I will be speaking at Android Builders Summit and ELC on Linux audio for smartphones, presenting an overview of ASoC including a walkthrough of audio driver bringup.

Wolfson updates in 2.6.38

Linux 2.6.38 was just released. As ever this release incorporates many enhancements from Wolfson, including substantial improvements in the memory usage when used with large and flexible devices such as modern audio hub CODECs and new driver support for WM8326, WM8737, WM8770 and WM8958

New asoc-tools repository

We've set up a repository with various small tools and scripts specific to ASoC. The goal of these tools is to aid debugging and testing of the ASoC subsystem and drivers. Currently there are two tools available.

  • DAPM graph visualization
  • ASoC tracepoint hooks beautifier
